What Is GDPR?
On May 25th 2018 the GDPR protection laws came into effect.
If you haven’t heard of GDPR yet here’s a brief description:
General Data Protection Regulation. … The GDPR aims primarily to give control to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU (European Union countries).
Even if you’re outside the UK, like the USA or elsewhere, this will affect you.

The Data Protection Directive (officially Directive 95/46/EC on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data (PII (US)) and on the free movement of such data) was a European Union directive adopted in 1995 which regulates the processing of personal data within the European Union.

GDPR fines (administrative fines) can go up to 20 million Euros or 4 percent of annual global (note global!) turnover, whichever of both is highest.
